Script Submissions and Reviews
Working in tandem with the Head Writer, Creative Producer and Client/Executive Producers, springboards from the roster of writers were reviewed to determine their viability as a finished episode. A number of factors were considered such as scope, tone and compatibility, overlapping content with commissioned series and other existing properties.



Once approved, scripts would move through a sign off procedures taking on notes from the senior creative team. Initially my input was concerned with scope, visuals and technical limitations with the Creative Producer managing overall tone, dialogue and general series concepts, however, these defined roles blurred as the series progressed.

Voice Record and Tracklay
In conjunction with the Creative Producer, voice scripts, ongoing notes and special direction would be collated and disseminated between the client, Voice Director and appropriate actors. An ensemble record was preferred with all actors present along with the creative team to respond to performance and adjust the script based on feedback in the room.
Diligence, creative control and flexibility in response to feedback from all parties was vital at this stage, ensuring down the line departments were considered and accounted. This limited unforeseen problems and cementing client confidence in the production, enabling focus to be spent on developing the content and supporting team members to make the best work possible rather than responding to unaddressed concerns resulting in production and creative inefficiencies.

From these records, an audio tracklay would be completed with preferred takes selected in house. Whilst this required more attention, it allowed both myself and the Creative Producer an increased degree of familiarity with the performances to better respond to client feedback as well as create a more detailed brief for the storyboard artist. It was vital that the storyboard artist have access to a voice cut to best support them in their role.

Episode Launch and Shooting Script
Upon sign off on tracklay from the client, I would create a comprehensive Shooting Script or 'Launch Pack' that would act as the start of the reference document for the episode. This was first and foremost for the storyboard artist to take and build upon, giving them a solid structure that ensures they have the time and resources to develop and iterate on more creative and expressive elements of the episode, such as comedic additions and performance.






All shots and cuts would be detailed alongside initial design work to give the Art Department the direction needed at this stage to create assets for Storyboard. Thumbs and written instruction using an established visual language were used in conjunction with a face to face brief between the storyboard artist and myself, allowing space for creative input in response to the episode as it was.
